Meet Carole Townsend
Carole Townsend has been a newspaper correspondent and blogger for nearly twenty years.
Also an award-winning author of six books, she has established a reputation as both an ardent
researcher and an engaging writer.
In 2017, Carole was awarded the honor of Finalist – Georgia Author of the Year, for her book
Blood in the Soil. She was named 2022 Georgia Author of the Year for her fifth book, The History
of Peachtree Corners. She was awarded the 2022 Whitworth-Flanigan Award for that same
book.
Since 2014, Carole has enjoyed working with aspiring writers, teaching workshops in the
metropolitan Atlanta area. Several of her students have gone on to write and publish their books. Others have successfully pursued careers as professional writers in some other capacity.
Townsend is a graduate of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her books are rooted in
the deep South, mainly in Georgia and in its rich history. Carole has been a guest on CNN, FOX,
NPR, and other major network news and talk shows to discuss her books and related topics.
